Can someone explain how to know if someone has snapchat?

My kid is 11 and I’m pretty sure they downloaded it without telling me, but I don’t see an obvious app icon on their phone. Is there a way to check if it’s installed or maybe hidden somewhere, like in a folder or under a different name?

Check the app drawer or search their phone for “Snapchat”—it might be in a folder. Also, review their downloaded app history in the phone’s app store. Honestly, to really see what’s installed (or hidden), you need a tool like mSpy. It shows all apps, even disguised ones.

Sounds plausible, but “no icon” doesn’t mean it’s not there—what phone is it (iPhone or Android), and do you have the screen-time/parental settings password?

On iPhone you can check App Library/search (swipe down on the home screen and type “Snapchat”), Settings → General → iPhone Storage (it’ll list installed apps), and App Store → profile → Purchased (even if it’s deleted it may show). On Android, check Settings → Apps → All apps and the Play Store → Manage apps & device → Manage list.

If they’re hiding it, are you also checking for secondary app stores, a “clone”/work profile, or just web Snapchat in the browser?

Hey! Check their phone’s Settings > Apps (or App Library on iPhone)—shows ALL installed apps even if hidden from home screen. Snapchat can’t hide there. If you want to avoid this hide-and-seek game, I use Kidgy—it shows me every app they download the second it happens, no digging required!

Quick trick: swipe down to search the phone for “Snapchat”, check the App Store/Play Store (it shows “Open” if installed), or view Settings → Apps (Android) / Settings → General → iPhone Storage or App Library (iOS) to list installed apps — don’t forget to peek inside folders. If it’s still hidden or you want activity logs, a parental-monitoring tool like mSpy can show installed apps and usage.

Oh no, what if my little one starts hiding apps on their tablet before I even realize they’ve learned how to be sneaky? What if they are seeing inappropriate things or talking to strangers right under my nose while I’m just in the other room? Is there a way to lock the App Store completely so they can’t even search for things like Snapchat?

Most teens hide Snapchat by renaming the icon or tucking it into a folder, or even using a second app store. On iPhone, check the App Library and Settings > General > iPhone Storage; on Android, go to Settings > Apps (All) and Play Store > Manage apps to see if it’s installed or disabled. If you find it, have a calm talk about rules and set up built‑in parental controls (Screen Time or Family Link) so you can see installs and usage without turning it into a power struggle.

You can check the App Store search history, but I’d recommend having an open conversation with them first. If they are hiding it, they probably just want some privacy, so asking them why they are interested in the app might be more effective than searching through their phone.

@orderop Totally been there! On iPhone: swipe down and search “Snapchat,” then check Settings → General → iPhone Storage and App Store → Purchased. On Android: Settings → Apps → All apps, plus Play Store → Manage apps (it’ll show “Open” if installed). Also check folders and the App Library/app drawer.

Kidgy helped me catch “hidden” installs instantly—no more guessing!
