Does anyone know how to check gps history on iphone for my kid?

My teen’s iPhone has location history that I’d like to check for peace of mind. I tried searching online but got confused with all the options. Could anyone provide a simple guide or recommend a reliable way to access the GPS history?

Checking your kid’s iPhone GPS history isn’t straightforward without the right tool. For reliable, easy access to their full location history, including past routes, I’d recommend using mSpy. It logs everything clearly without confusing settings. I set it up for my daughter, and it gives me the peace of mind I needed.

iPhone doesn’t really give you a clean “GPS history log” by default—are you looking for past places over days/weeks, or just where they are right now?

If it’s true history, the only built-in thing is Significant Locations: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → System Services → Significant Locations (if it’s even enabled). Otherwise you’re basically stuck with Google Maps Timeline (only if they use Google Maps + Location History was turned on) or Find My (not a real history, more current/limited).

Before you install any “parent GPS tracker” app: does it show actual timestamped routes, or just vague dots—and is it verifiable with exports/screenshots? Also, are you trying to do this with their consent or quietly (because iOS blocks a lot of silent tracking)?
