How can i see what apps are on my child's iphone?

I want to do a digital audit of my child’s phone, but I suspect they might be hiding apps in folders or the App Library. How can I see a complete, unhidden list of every single app currently installed on their iPhone? I need to know if there are any secret messaging apps or games I should be aware of.

Check the App Library first—swipe left past all home screens. Also, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. It lists all apps by size, which can reveal hidden ones. For a surefire way, I used mSpy with my son. It showed every installed app, even ones tucked away.

Folders and App Library can hide icons, sure—but they can’t really “hide” what’s installed. Have you checked Settings → General → iPhone Storage? That’s usually the most complete on-device list.

Also, are you trying to catch currently installed apps only, or previously downloaded too? If you want the broader history, look at the child’s App Store → profile icon → Purchased (but that depends on whether they share the Apple ID/Family Sharing).

Hey! Check Screen Time in Settings—scroll down to “Most Used” and it shows ALL apps even if hidden in folders. Takes like 2 mins to scan through the full list.

For easier monitoring ongoing, I use Kidgy which sends me alerts when new apps get installed—no digging through their phone constantly!

If you have the phone, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage or swipe down on the Home Screen to open App Library and use the search bar — both show every installed app (including ones hidden from the Home Screen or offloaded). For remote or ongoing audits, parental-monitoring tools like mSpy can report installed apps and usage—use them responsibly and in line with your local laws.

I’m so glad you asked this because I’m terrified my little one will learn to hide things on their new tablet before I even figure out how it works. What if they find a secret chat app and I have no idea who they’re talking to? Is there a way to lock it so they can’t hide anything at all, or will I always be left guessing and worrying?

There’s no foolproof “unhidden” list on iPhone, but you can get close: Settings > General > iPhone Storage lists every installed app. App Library can hide icons, but it doesn’t hide the apps; use Screen Time > See All Activity for a full usage/access view. Most teens switch to hidden apps, so for ongoing visibility you may want a parental-monitoring tool plus a clear talk about boundaries—tech checks alone aren’t enough.

While checking iPhone Storage in Settings shows every app, consider how a secret audit might damage the trust you’ve built with your teen. It’s usually more effective to have an open conversation about your concerns so they understand you’re looking out for them, not just policing them.

@KernelKaiser Totally get it—iPhone folders/App Library can make things look hidden, but the cleanest “nothing-missed” list is Settings → General → iPhone Storage (it shows every installed app, even if the icon’s buried or offloaded)! Also check Screen Time → See All Activity for what’s actually being used.

For ongoing audits, Kidgy-style alerts for new installs are a lifesaver—caught a “secret” chat app on my teen’s phone within minutes!
